3 Essential Home Fitness Items

Great equipment to aid you in your search for weight loss.

These 3 items combined will allow anyone to exercise every part of their body from home. Acheiving significant weight loss requies a combination of resistance and non-resistance training. Non-resistance training includes, swimming, running, cycling etc. and resistance training includes weight training and bodyweight training etc.

Non-resistance training can be cardio or interval training. Both are excellent primarily for burning fat and improving cardiovascular health. A cycling machine can allow you to do both from home. The Marcy Magnetic Cycle is a fairly basic cycling machine with a computer device that allows you to do everything you would need to. Its not particuarly expensive compared with some of the fancier bikes, but we don't need all the fancy extras. Nor is it the cheapest bike you can buy - it's still a well made, comfortable bike with great reviews.

Resistance training is used to build strength, muscle, flexibility, improve bone density, burn huge amounts of fat and even develop your cardiovascular health. But you're on here to burn fat, so let me explain how it does that. Firstly, weight training, when done properly, makes you breathe hard and raise your heart rate; this will burn fat much like a cardio workout will. But more importantly weight training stimulates the release of testosterone which is the hormone that burns fat. Men have much higher testosterone levels which is the reason their bodyfat percentage is naturally much lower. And, as you will gain some muscle from weight training your metabolism will increase too. This is because the more muscle mass you have the faster your metabolism runs.

So, we must stimulate as many muscles as possible in order to release optimum amounts of testosterone, and at the same time have the added benefit of a faster metabolism from our newly increased muscle mass.

In order to do this from home we have to have the equipment to exercise every muscle in our body. The pull up bar and bench press will allow us to exercise our back, chest, shoulders, arms, abs and even legs (we can take off the weight bar and use it for squats or lunges).

Combined with the bicycle you will have a complete gym at your home for around 200. This is less than some gyms charge per month! None of the equipment is very fancy, but it is practical, durable and very usable. With the gym in your home you'll also be able to exercise as you please. It may even encourage you to work out several times a day as you don't have to travel anywhere. In my next article I will recommend exercises and routines you can use with this equipment.

Being Serious and Realistic About Bodily Changes

To have a motivated mindset and achieve whatever we want, we first need to be serious and realistic.

For some reason our body changes, in almost every way, slower than our mind does. If I were to decide today that I was going to lose weight, or get a perfectly sculpted lean body, it is reasonable to say that it is far more likely my mind is going to change, before my body does.

It would take months in order for me to safely lose noticeable weight, but the time in which my mind could change from 'can be bothered to lose weight' to 'can't be bothered to lose weight', might be no time at all.

Almost all changes that people desire about their body(weight loss, muscle gain, strength gains, cardiovascular health, skin conditions etc.)are very slow to occur. It takes along time to see results and we mustn't let this put us off. We must be mindful of the time it takes to see results in all areas of health and beauty, and not let it discourage us.

Offers of quick fixes for innumerable issues are available everywhere. If you are seduced by them you will soon realise your mistake as they provide little or no results. Instead, you must take any endeavour concerning health, beauty and fitness seriously. This means, while accepting that results will take time, you begin to research thoroughly what is best for you. The bigger the endeavour, the bigger the research needed. There are endless articles online and books in libraries that can be plumbed.

You may even find yourself enjoying the new information you discover and become quite knowledgeable about it.

Spending time and dedication on researching your issue sets up your mind frame superbly for what you need to do. You feel totally informed and confident in what your doing - you know that what your doing will get you results. If you achieve this state of mind, of serious, knowledgeable and realistic, you will find no problem in sticking to what your trying to do, and achieving it. This is how it's done.

Realising That Beauty and Health Must Be Thought of Holistically

Having one goal is great, but why not have many? Why not change your entire lifestyle?

Everybody wants to feel and look better - this is simply human nature - but how is the question we all ask.

When we get up in the morning we look in the mirror and assess what could be done. Maybe I could lose some weight around my waist; maybe my hair looks crap; or perhaps I am simply unhappy with the little yellow staining I have on my teeth. So, we set ourselves some new goal to achieve. 'I shall go to the gym tomorrow and jog all goddamn day on that treadmill!'.

Everybody knows how this ends. Some of us go, and stick at going, lose some weight and then find something else to change, but this is very few of us. Some of us go for awhile - a change may be made, but not that noticeable. Most of us, however, don't bother.

This is because when we think of the endless days of jogging before us before any real change is made, today's single gym session seems like a drop in the ocean. Why go through the pain of today without any real progress being made, until we have made this sacrifice many times over?

Our problem is that we put all our eggs in one basket, we must diversify! So, let's go back to looking in the mirror. This time we will not lazily look for our major flaw and think of a quick fix. This time we will decide to take into account every aspect of our body, in order to make a real improvement to how we feel and look. We need to change our entire lifestyle.

The benefits of this are plentiful. It will in fact be easier to maintain our motivation if we change our entire lifestyle than if we changed just one part. This is because it is difficult to incorporate a healthy lifestyle option into a unhealthy lifestyle. We will lose motivation the moment we consider how every unhealthy thing we do cancels out the one healthy thing we do. If you are instead to live an entirely healthy lifestyle then everything you do will be, quite obviously, healthy - you won't have any room for deviance in a health focused life.

The most obvious benefit though, is that you will be improving every aspect of yourself,(remember, your entire body includes your mind) not just one. Instead of completing one goal every few months and then moving onto the next, you can see progress being made in all bodily departments.

You'll also notice that everything health related is interconnected, and things will compliment other things. For instance, if you begin to eat well, with the idea in mind of losing weight, you will, after sometime, notice improvements in skin, hair and teeth too. Not to mention how much the inside of your body will thank you.

Doing this will of course still require great motivation and dedication. However, once you get going you will start to enjoy it and draw great motivation from that alone. When you then progress further down the line the motivation can be acquired through the results you will see. And on a final note, maybe I shouldn't say this but, people often find it much easier to deviate from their healthy lifestyle and then return to it with ease once they've been strict with themselves for sometime.
